Help support rescued dogs and cats in the Accra Region of Ghana. My name is Dr Godwin A. C. Okpattah of SANCORE Animal Rescue and Shelter, a veterinary surgeon with extensive experience in animal welfare. We need help to put up and support animal rescue and animal shelter in Ghana, provide veterinary needs, including spay/neuter, vaccinations and cater for, the hundreds of abandoned and stray dogs and cats roaming the streets around the Greater Accra Region in Ghana. there is a constant increase in the number of stray animals that live their lives in terrible conditions in and around the urban areas.
We are a nonprofit no-kill, animal rescue and adoption organization. The first of its kind in Ghana. Our mission is to save the lives of homeless animals in the Greater Accra Region, by providing access to low-cost spay and neuter programs, exposing animal cruelty in order to reduce the inhumane treatment of animals and educating the public on the plight of shelter animals in an effort to increase adoptions. Please Donate to our cause or share.
I must also mention the occurrence of Rabies in stray animals and people, especially in urban areas. We as veterinarians are constantly occupied with stray animal vaccinations against rabies. Although these actions are very dangerous, we do it with courage and enthusiasm. By helping these stray dogs and cats, we will be helping to protect the population and free-roaming animals against the spread of dangerous zoonosis like rabies.
This will also gradually reduce dog populations in a humane manner, and consequently, reduce the threat from dogs to people and wildlife. We will also be able to offer the saved animals for adoption.
The project will be situated in The Madina a suburb of Accra. We are putting up an animal shelter, premises for treatment of animals and a laboratory which will cost $10000 US; we will plan to purchase veterinary surgical equipment for Spaying/Neutering, vaccinating and performing general veterinary treatments at a cost of $5000 US.
Together with other two young veterinarians, we have taken the challenge for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of animals in need of care and attention and, in particular, to provide and maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such animals. We are in desperate need of a durable shelter, a used mobile veterinary clinic, surgical supplies and funding to continue the vital work. We should not need to cut each piece of gauze in half in order to make ends meet. Every cent raised will go towards the building of a shelter, purchase of a used mobile clinic, veterinary medical supplies that will be used to help dogs and other stray animals. In due course, we will be giving discounted services to people who can afford to keep our project going on. For every cent we raise, one dog or cat will be able to receive some feeding and veterinary treatment. A contribution from you, no matter the amount, will make a big difference in the life of a homeless, sick, injured or abused animal.
Do you want to join us in supporting a good cause? We are raising money for the first animal rescue and shelter in Ghana and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
